Open mail and distribute Drop Shipping
Are you familiar with USPS Priority Mail Open and distribute?
For some clients mail, express mail drop shipment is a well kept secret that they are not aware, and as a result are missing out on some great opportunities for improved performance and reduce costs.
For those of you who are not familiar with this service, which is technically called Priority Mail Open and distribute (PMOD) by the United States Postal Service ® (USPS). It is a method of drop shipping postal mail at the entry points using express mail as the method shipping rather than the more traditional methods such as truck, less than load (LTL) or air freight. The same service is available via Priority Mail Open and distribute (EMOD) but is more expensive due to the faster delivery service (next day).
No matter what level of service used, and distribute Open is a very clever way to drop ship to the points of entry with a smaller volume of email that make more shipping methods traditional cost prohibitive. Its action is to enter the mailpiece to normal shipping rates (eg, newspapers, Standard, etc), and place the trays or bags mail sacks for Priority Mail delivery to the post entry point. 3) You can mail a cheaper standard rates, but get very close to the standards of delivery of first class if you use PMOD to drop ship for additional entry points.
Your correspondence can be easily analyzed to determine whether PMOD will be beneficial for you to use. Use Mail.dat a file, can process this file through post-management software Mail.dat presort plan in a "fast" mode. This lets you see all the possible entry drop ship items for which your mail rate. You can then go a step further by applying the costs of transportation to points of entry to large volumes of mail. All entry points with small volumes can be exported in the software PMOD to determine the estimated cost of shipping PMOD.
