Streaming DVD Rental could only take UK market
Netflix, online America's largest rental service DVD is looking to expand across the Atlantic with a movement in real-time online movie arena.
The head of the company, Reed Hastings, told reporters that the company was "focused on introducing a country and see how we do it."
Mr. Hastings also gave a signal that would probably be the United Kingdom when it comes to aborted earlier attempt of the company to enter the UK online DVD rental market.
"[This time] is streaming, that's a big difference – no shops, no integration with Royal Mail, "he said.
The company had planned to enter UK market six years ago, but was forced to retire after a price war initiated in the United States.
Difficult tasks
But in no way be easier all round for the second time.
The UK rental market for DVDs is now a very different place, with dominating Lovefilm rent. Lovefilm DVD rental are looking to get a stranglehold on streaming online as well.
The company already has around 3000 movies on its website which subscribers can watch instantly. About 300 of these are available to anyone free of charge.
Most are TV shows or films less popular, but recently the French film 'available Mesrine "free of charge and no doubt have other promotional tricks up their sleeves DVD.
However, transmission line has thus far not have a significant effect on consumers who compare DVD rental.
Broadband UK
The state of the broadband market in the United Kingdom can have an effect on the expansion of online streaming movies in the country.
Only recently the launch of BT's 40Mb service a limited number of homes, most Internet users are in the connections should only meet the demands about streaming movies online.
More of a concern is whether the film will be subscribers willing to pay more for additional monthly bandwidth necessary for large amounts of data used for services.
The good news for Netflix though is that there plenty of opportunity for tie-ins with broadband providers and the expansion of the distribution of content to other devices.
TV / DVD / film Online?
The latest household technology incorporates Ethernet and wireless technology which means it can be directly connected to the Internet.
Netflix already offers its service for streaming movies online for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and some new Blu-ray in the U.S.. No doubt offer the same to users elsewhere.
It is not only to do so however, the CES in Las Vegas, Sony and Samsung announced new TVs that offer subscribers the opportunity to of Lovefilm view movie streaming service company in your living room TV without a computer.
Lovefilm also expected to moves in the game console market and offer its online movie streaming service for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii owners.
Netflix plans to enter the European market in the second half of the year but may need to hope that their rivals have swallowed too much of the market at that time.
