Is it worth replacing my trusty 28 "CRT with an LCD TV HD Ready?
I would like to save some space in my living room so am tempted so that finally one of these flat LCD TV. What puts me off is when I see these LCD TV stores the image quality is rubbish – except when they are demonstrating high-definition movies. I've also heard a lot of things are wrong with the sound of inferior quality LCD TV (less space for the speakers that were in CRT TV) Fast moving blur slow update time (apparently this is a problem when playing Guitar Hero drums) are not really Blacks black increased energy consumption that really only use my TV to watch DVD movies, playing with the Wii games and normal TV (I will not subscribe to or buy an HD player Blu-ray). Is it worth 'upgrading'?
I would say not worth it. It is true that many people who have bought LCD TVs are not happy with the image quality. The polarized fluorescent backlight can cause distortion of colors and wider viewing angles close (people seeing off-axis on one side, you can not see the image), and liquid crystals cause a slow response time resulting in blur movement, and the inability to display true black. Moreover, the content is not on TV in the native resolution, should be enlarged, which can cause distortion additional artifacts on display – you can not create something from nothing. If you do not think the improvement in the service of high-definition cable, I would say that there is no reason to get it. Any improvement in the quality of the image in a progressive scan DVD because of the Wii will be offset by reduced mentioned contrast and motion blur. CRT provides without doubt the best image quality in standard definition.
